Weather of China

Post  danny on Sat Aug 21, 2010 8:31 am

Hello!! the weather in China certain is a trial for the Chinese people. Yesterday, did anyone else see the stories about the railroad bridge giving out as a train was sitting on top of it? There were hundreds of people on the trian. Luckily there was a happy ending to the story. I think that it happened in Yunnan province which is just west of Guangxi.

The train and bridge collapse was in Yunnan province, which is near Guangxi province. It was caused by the heavy rains in the region. The incident occurred on the Shitinjiang bridge in Guanghan town. The entire region has been suffering heavy rains, mudslides and flooding. In the mountain region of Gongshan, they were 12 people killed and 80 still missing. Sichuan province too is having the same problems and also had a train wreck.

The train operator had actually noticed something was not quite right and started telling passengers to move to the rear of train and begin evacuating. It is said, if it were not for his quick reaction, there would have been serious casualties.

Hubei, Guangxi, Liaoning and other provinces will be getting lots of the heavy rains. We had it here in Shanghai and Suzhou on Thursday, though I did not here of any casualties or floods. As the rains moved westward, it was when the other provinces got hit the hardest.

Prior to the rain storms approaching, temperatures have been between 32 - 34C (90 - 94F) with humidity at 80%, though weather reports say the temperatures feel more between 37 - 40C (99 - 105F), mainly due to the high humidity. We've been outdoors during the day and take umbrellas with us, not for the rain, to cover ourselves from the sun. Evenings, at times, are cool and breezy.

It's all a mater of personal taste. You can get any kind of weather you want here. Or, if you hang around long enough in one place, you will have exactly what you want for a while...
